The project focused on children and the importance of giving them exposure of other cultures, in order for them to reject racism and hatred towards those who seem different. With this approach, Rastay worked nationwide with schools in Pakistan covering all the five regions of the country. Three age groups of children were involved for different activities with the help of teachers and volunteers..
⦁ Story telling sessions – (with kindergarten kids)
⦁ Basic orientation about German Culture and Drawing exercise- ( grade 1-5)
⦁ Detailed orientation of German Culture and art workshops to produce art- (grade 6-10)
The special feature of the project was to engage underprivileged schools. This gave an opportunity to children living in slums to know about another country and culture. These children do not have televisions in their homes, no internet access and no concept of chairs at schools; they usually have classes under shades or tents. Rastay trained young volunteers as well. Artists, students and teachers after orientation were able to groom the children with respect to skill and awareness.
Rastay was able to successfully complete and deliver the project despite of law and order situation, strikes ,winter holidays and delays.
